PRELUDE / GATHERING
God is Good

THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Good morning! As we’re called to worship, let’s remember that worship starts with God and God alone. Though we’re quick to forget and even doubt God’s love and care for us, His Word reminds and reorients us. Hear the Word of the Lord:

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble.
Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

– Psalm 107:1-2, 8-9

WORSHIP IN SONG
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

CONFESSION / LAMENT
Galatians reminds us:

“After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?”

– Galatians 3:3b

Although we’re only saved by grace, we often live as if we need to do more to make us right before God. Let’s take a minute and repent of the ways we’ve tried to keep up appearances before God and others. Isn’t it so exhausting?     [SILENCE]

Let’s pray this together:

Lord, our best striving apart from your work is useless.
Make us a people who trust in Christ’s work, not our own.
May we choose daily repentance instead of performance,
and live in the good of the gospel. Amen.

WORSHIP IN SONG

Assurance of Grace / Passing of Peace
Here’s the good news!

For as by one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

– Romans 5:19

Because of what Christ has done for us, those who have trusted in him have been made righteous. And that means’ we’re all on an equal playing field with each other. We’re all in need of God’s grace, and we all receive it freely through Jesus. There’s no need to jockey for position in the family of God. What a relief! Let’s greet one another with joy in light of that.

BENEDICTION
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

– Hebrews 13:20-21

Peace be with you!
And also with you!
