Redemption Peoria | Liturgy Recap & Sermon audio

Call to Worship
Good morning, and Happy Father’s Day! We begin each gathering by remembering that worship begins with God. Let’s hear and respond to God’s Word, and may it remind us all just how great and holy He is.

Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

– Psalm 100:3,5

Come Thou Fount

Confession / Lament
Hear God’s invitation to us:

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;
Let the wicked change their ways
and the unrighteous their very thoughts of wrong.
Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them.
Again, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.

– based on Isaiah 55:6-7

In the strength of this promise, let’s confess our sins to God.

Assurance of Grace
For Christians, confessing our sins is an application of the gospel. It essentially consists of us acknowledging our sins and praying for grace. And we know God gives us great grace in Jesus.

In Jesus, we are reminded that he is a much greater Savior than we are sinners, and He did what none of us in here could ever do — defeat Satan, sin, and death. Our assurance today is in the hope we have before us through Him, or as Hebrews 6 calls it “a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.”—that no matter how we are tossed here and there by the emotional tides of suffering, the gospel is not only wide enough for all our questions, but strong enough to hold us through any storm.

We Will Feast in the House of Zion

As you go today,
May the love of God the Father, the faithful creator,
The peace of Christ, the wounded healer,
The joy of the challenging Spirit,
The hope of the Three in One,
surround and encourage you today, tonight, and forever.

Peace be with you!
And also with you!
