Foster Care & Adoption
"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." - James 1:27
As we read through Scripture, caring for the vulnerable is close to the heart of God and therefore should be for his people as well.
The Redemption Church Foster Care, Kinship and Adoption Ministry was formed in 2012 and is designed to both mobilize and support families and individuals that God had called to engage in foster care and adoption.
While we deeply desire the restoration of children with their families, we also celebrate the creation of new families and the hope and healing only Christ can bring.
We know that not everyone is called to foster and/or adopt, but God calls everyone is called to do something. As a result, we work to connect individuals interested in supporting foster, kinship and adoptive families to a variety of organizations in the State.
We look forward to answering your questions and to walking alongside you in this journey.
Get Involved
We believe that children need families and families need support.
MOBILIZATION
In collaboration with Arizona 1.27, we provide a series of supportive, interactive and faith-based trainings prior to becoming a licensed foster, kinship or adoptive family.
ORIENTATION
The State required Orientation is an introduction to foster care, adoption and support in Arizona. We cover a variety of topics from the basics of becoming licensed, additional ways to support families and the unique reason that God calls his people to care for the vulnerable children and families of our state.
BASIC TRAINING
Basic Training is a one-day training where prospective and current foster and adoptive families are introduced to a Biblical view on foster care and adoption. This class helps look at the realities of caring for a child from a hard place as well as providing resources for families with current placements.
SUPPORT
We believe that foster care and adoption is best done within community and ongoing fellowship and training is empowering and encouraging.
SUPPORT GROUP
Support Groups are currently hosted at seven of our Redemption congregations and consist of fellowship, training, and pastoral care.
CLASSES AND TRAININGS
In partnership with agencies and organizations in our communities, we offer classes and trainings for families outside of our support groups. Many provide the state required training certification for you to maintain your foster care license.
